The Journey to York Jam 2013

Two weeks ago I (Louis) took a trip to York, PA to experience my first official York Jam. As a flatlander it is one of the things you're supposed (unofficially) to do, go to a York Jam. Why is the York Jam important? Well for one thing it's where the Dorkin' In York series originated back in 1988. Kevin Jones and Mark Eaton came up with the idea to make a BMX video with the DIY sense of style. There are ten videos all together. They were a mixture of flatland/street/vert/park/dirt, you know name it, it was in there. I'm only 24 and I have watched these videos almost religiously. I was introduced to Dorkin' In York by my friend Rodney Moreweiser when I was 17 and I've been hooked ever since.

Kevin Jones is basically the guy who invented modern flatland. He was away ahead of his time and still is to this day. A lot of flatlanders have gone to York ever since they started having the York Jam back in 1991 and I felt like it was time for me to finally go to an official York Jam. I've been to a fall York Jam, but it just wasn't the same.

Alex Bodnar Bike Check

Alex recently went under knee surgery and is resting with his time off. So I thought why not shoot him an e-mail and see what his set up is like these days. He's got a super clean ride and has been running a freecoaster before it became the latest fad. Check out the parts he is riding after the jump.

Shields Skatepark Montage

Shields Skatepark in Flemington, NJ is no more. Its a sad time for us Efinger guys, but thankfully our head mechanic and master wheel builder, Dustin Farnum, came out this summer to take some great pictures of us riding. Check them out after the jump.
Kyle Olinger, whip over the box.

Rochester Street Jam 09/07/13

Louis Orth Bike Check

-->Switching things up this week, we decided to go with Louis Orth, our team flatland rider for a bike check. Louis rarely changes his parts and if he does, it's because something broke. Louis is really good at breaking bike parts and never accepts compliments about his riding. He always says he, "could be better." Check out how old some of his parts are and what works for him when riding flatland.

Trevor Carlton Bike Check

Third in line for our bike checks is Trevor Carlton. Trevor keeps the theme going of riding a Kink BMX frame like Nick and Kyle. Trevor can also do back flips. Find out what parts he is running to help with the back flips.

Kyle Olinger Bike Check

Kyle is next up in our bike check list. Kyle can 3-whip a box like no other and loves to keep his bike absolutely dialed. See what he is riding and why he still runs a gyro unlike many other riders after the jump.
